The General Assembly of the United nations adopted the United Nations convention against corruption on October 31, 2003 and marked December 9 as International day of Anti-Corruption to raise awareness of corruption and the role of Convention in fighting and preventing it.

To this end, Afghanistan Public Policy Research Organization (APPRO), as the Secretariat of National Advocacy Committee for Public Policy (NAC-PP) with financial support of UNDP and Royal Danish Embassy in Kabul, celebrated International Anti-corruption Day in Balkh, Faryab and Badakhshan provinces on December 6, 7 and 8, 2020 respectively. The aim of these events was to raise public awareness about corruption and the ways in which local government institutions, civil society, private sector entities, media and religious leaders can contribute to curbing corruption in their respective provinces.
